Four Days of Bliss at Más Bliss Yoga Retreat

I love a wellness retreat. Over the years I have been to several–The Ranch Malibu, Bikini Bootcamp, and my latest–Más Bliss Retreat which was held in Todos Santos this February. All of these retreats were amazing experiences and offered a chance to reset, move and eat mindfully, but Más Bliss holds a very special place in my heart. The founders of Más Bliss (@shericolosimo and @caraferrick) are incredibly inspiring women who met while running CorePower studios in Denver, Colorado. Cara still owns several CorePower studios in Santa Barbara and WestLake and Más Bliss is their joint venture to bring yoga, meditation, and connection to small groups of women a couple times a year.

THE SETTING

While Mas Bliss isn’t tied to a specific venue (Cara and Sheri have hosted their retreats in several different locations including Ojai, California, Sayulita, Mexico and Los Zacatitos Mexico), this year both retreats were held at the Topia Boutique Retreat Center (@topiaretreat) in Todos Santos. Todos Santos, which is about an hour drive from Cabo San Lucas, might just be my new favorite place in Mexico, with beautiful white sand beaches that still feel untouched and a cute town center with little shops, art galleries and some great restaurants (do NOT miss @oystera_ts if you go!).

Topia Boutique Retreat Center is a beautiful home built by a couple from Seattle, Washington (Chelle and Kris Swierz) and is specially designed to hold small groups for retreats. There are a total of 6 suites that can accommodate up to 21 guests . All the rooms have sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, and the entire home is elegant and modern, while being comfortable and conducive to gatherings. There were 16 of us total during the retreat, and we all convened at the long dining table for communal meals, relaxed together in the cozy open-air living room or by the fire pit and enjoyed the ocean-facing pool and hot tub. Of course I can’t forget the yoga studio! There was nothing more magical than doing yoga or a salsa class facing the stunning sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

THE PROGRAM

We arrived at the international airport in Cabo San Lucas on a Wednesday afternoon and met half our group during the hour-long shuttle ride (complete with snacks and drinks) to Topia. We checked into our rooms where we each received gift bags with helpful items for our stay (loved the chardonnay oil sunscreen by @vacationinc) and an itinerary. Sheri and Cara emphasized that all activities were completely optional, so anyone who wanted to sleep, go for a beach walk or hang out at the pool was welcome to do so. That first evening we gathered at the long dining room table for our first of many incredible meals.

Over the next 4 days we did daily meditation and 90 minute yoga classes, went for beach walks and hikes, experienced a sound bath, had massages, took a dance class, and got to know each other over leisurely meals. We also went to the town of Todos Santos and had lunch at Oystera, a really unique oyster bar and farm-to-table restaurant.  While Cara and Sheri managed to pack a lot into 4 days, never did we feel rushed or tired–everything just flowed and at the end we all felt refreshed and deeply connected.

FOOD

Some of the wellness retreats that I have been to, such as The Ranch, focus on a restrictive diet and no caffeine or alcohol–that was NOT the case at Más Bliss. The meals at Más Bliss were divine and alcohol was available for purchase if desired. The food was definitely nourishing and incorporated lots of healthy vegetables and lean proteins and all dietary restrictions were happily accommodated. The spicy margaritas were also delish.

SUMMARY

All the women I met on the retreat agreed that Más Bliss was an incredible experience. While there were many special experiences during these 4 days, the type of people the retreat brought together and the openness with which we shared with each other was probably the highlight. I can’t wait until next year! If you’re interested in joining one of Cara and Sheri’s upcoming retreats, sign up for more information at masblissretreats.com.
