Current Miami favorites

Miami Restaurant Picks

Miami is one of our favorite places to visit, and while we have both only been a handful of times and have much more of it to explore, we have put together a list of some of our current favorites. See below for our Miami restaurant picks and what’s on our list to try next.

CARBONE

We really do believe Carbone is worth the hype.  The food is all amazing and dining there is an experience in itself. If you manage to get a reservation here (check months in advance and sometimes slots open up at midnight) take it!

Our favorite dishes here are - the veal, the octopus, and the spicy rigatoni of course.

PLANTA

This restaurant is a must for all vegetarians and anyone else who loves plant based food. Not only does Planta have a fresh and modern feel to it, the chefs there also have the most unique ways of incorporating plant based foods into their menu. The vegetarian sushi is the star of the show, especially the crispy rice with avocado and spicy ahi watermelon.

KOMODO

For great Japanese food and a sexy vibe try Komodo on Brickell Avenue. If you love mezcal and a bit of heat  (like Zahra) , start with the Spicy Jaja Margarita, a divine combination of tequila, mezcal, passion fruit, habanero, mango & lime. Komodo is great to dine at with a group so you can try lots of different dishes. We loved the chicken salad, wagyu beef dumplings, salmon tacos & hamachi jalapeno but there is so much more there we want to try!

CASA TUA

Dining at Casa Tua is like being invited to have dinner at a beautiful home with impeccable hosts. We love dining in the outdoor garden, but the inside dining room, called the Library, also has a special ambience and is elegantly decorated with beautiful art, candles, flowers and books. Have the classics here–beef carpaccio, MIKY’s salad, the divine bolognese and perfect cacio e pepe. End with Casa Tua’s famous donuts for dessert.

MILA

Mila is a super fun rooftop restaurant on Lincoln Road. The cuisine is MediterrAisan (we know–we hadn’t heard of this before either!) which is a blend of Japanese and Mediterranean flavors. The head chef, Michael Michaelides has earned an impressive 26 Michelin stars over the course of his career. All of the maki and the satay-glazed chicken were delicious but the star of our meal was definitely the truffle cream spaghetti. Seconds? Yes please!

PURA VIDA

A trip to Miami is never complete without a morning stop at Pura Vida. Whether pastries, a healthy breakfast, a nutrient filled salad bowl or a green juice to bring you back to life after a proper night out in Miami, Pura Vida has you covered. Jenna is absolutely in love with this place and with all of their gluten-free and vegan options, it seems like an acceptable daily indulgence!

MANDOLIN AEGEAN BISTRO

Mandolin, which is located in the trendy Design District, is one of our absolute favorite places for lunch. As soon as you walk through the quaint blue gate you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Greece. The menu features traditional Mediterranean cuisine with lots of fresh local produce. Try the baked feta, greek village salad and grilled sea bass–delicious AND blue zone friendly!

We hope that gives you a decent start on where to eat in Miami. We’ll certainly be back there again and plan to try more places. On our list for the next visit…
